50 Cents Of The Price of Gallon Of Gas Is Taxes?

Is that true? Do you know how much you pay in gasoline taxes? Do you care?

Gasoline taxes are used (it is said) to fix roads, bridges and holes in politician's teeth. But, if you cut the gasoline taxes in half would that mean that roads don't get fixed? Why is it that gasoline is taxed to fix roads? Don't the American people pay enough in income taxes to cover that expense?
