$5.00 Gallon Gas Comes to Los Angeles

From George4title at YouTube:
A West Covina Mobile Gas Station is charging $4.99 9/10 for premium gasoline. Not quite $5.00 but almost. It's amazing how fast prices for gasoline have gone up in Southern California. Inflation? Oil speculation? Middle east tensions? Who really know... only thing I know for sure is that the common commuter will be paying the price.

Senator Mark Begich: "It's a Punch" 5/11/2011

From US Senator Mark Begich: Sen. Mark Begich spoke on the Senate floor about the high price of gas and fuel Alaskans are forced to live with every day.

Senator Begich spoke about his work to get gas prices under control, by introducing the Family Account to Save on Transportation (FAST) Act, and advocated for a comprehensive energy plan to invest in our energy future.

Sen. Begich's Advocacy has included:
- Proposed the Family Account to Save on Transportation (FAST) Act. The bill would provide relief from high gas prices for two years by allowing consumers to set aside pre-tax dollars from their paycheck to spend on gas, much like a medical savings account.
- Continued to work with Republicans and Democrats to develop a comprehensive national energy plan which would develop new sources of renewable and non-renewable resources, improve efficiency standards and harness Alaska's energy potential.
- Advocated for increased domestic production of oil and natural gas to protect America's energy prices from international turmoil through responsibe development of Alaska's Outer Continental Shelf, the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska and building the Alaska natural gas pipeline.
- Supporting the development and use of renewable energy resources to heat our homes, power our appliances and fuel our vehicles.

Meet Tesla The $100,000 Electric Car

The Tesla Roadster is a 100% electric car. It does not need gasoline to run its engine. Duh. According to the Telsa website, the Tesla Roadster goes from 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds, gets 220 miles per charge and will file your taxes by April 15.

This electric car is more powerful than the average electric car that tops out at 60 mph. It erases that stigma because of its 240 horsepower engine that goes 130 mph.

Now, the Tesla Roadster will put you back about $100, 000. If you have that kind of loot, the price of a gallon of gas ain't bugging you that much.

Still, the electric car tech has made huge hops and will eventually filter down to an affordable package. Maybe in my lifetime.

FuelMode does not endorse the Tesla Roadster. But, if the people at Tesla Motors gave me one that would change.

Gas Prices Down

Oil has dropped to below $80.00 a barrel. Down from a high of about $130.00. How long will this last? Do we still need to drill for oil in America? Did FuelMode cause this drop?

Well, on that last question the answer is no. I wish this blog had that much power. The question of how long this will last remains answered. Still, I 'm glad most prices are below $3.00.

Is $2.00 a gallon possible?

How Does An Electric Car Work?

I'm a blogger not an electrical engineer. Trust me, if I were an electrical engineer, I wouldn't be a blogger, I'd be an eletrical engineer. That being said, I like being a blogger, that's why I do it. Most of the time.

Due to my lack of knowing electrical stuff, I had to find a video explaining how an electric car works. This is all done in 1:26! Thanks to people at HowStuffWorks.

Now, this isn't a hybrid but a 100% electric car.
